Welcome to the BRM Soccer Training Academy (BRMSTA).
Coach Fernando Vacas is in charge of training:
Boys and girls ages 4, 5 and 6 and Boys ages 7-12
Coach Vacas was one of the founders of the BRM back in 1988-89. His coaching experience expands
over 40 years. He holds national B and C licenses and has over 55 years of playing experience. He
also holds a Bachelors Degree in Engineering (BSEE) from one of the top engineering universities in
the country, California State Polytechnic University-Pomona, CA. He values education and always
demanded the best effort from his players on the soccer field and off the soccer field, as individuals and
as students. Many of his players went on to play college soccer, some receiving scholarships.
His teams have won numerous titles both league championships and tournaments, culminating with
the California State Cup in 1993-94. His personal soccer playing accomplishments expand four decades
starting in the Los Angeles Semi-Pro league as a 16 years old teenager, establishing the first soccer
team at Glendale High School and at Glendale Community College, being Head Coach of the Burbank
AYSO Region 254, coaching high school and college teams and being player/coach of the BRM in the Los
Angeles Recreation & Parks open adult league. Some of the players of the BRM State Championship
team still play together in the over 30 league.
Coach Vacas returned to the BRM earlier this year establishing the BRM Soccer Training Academy and
has recently started training boys ages 9-12. If you, parent(s) and player, are interested in top level
training, you can send an e-mail to fvacasBRMSTA@hotmail.com for more information.
A word from the coach:
It is with great joy that I come back to the club that I helped establish so long ago and from which I have
so many priceless moments and memories. I am ever so proud to see so many of my players become
outstanding citizens, and in some cases husbands and fathers. Time sure goes by fast.
My grandchildren are bringing me back to what I love, SOCCER. But this time around it is going to
be better than before. How you ask, by establishing the best training program. I have a lot of soccer
knowledge. How you ask, because I'm old (but young enough to be training toe-to-toe with the kids)
and soccer has been my life and passion. Also, you must remember that I am an engineer, I love to
analyze everything to the nth degree. My vast knowledge of soccer is a proven fact. So what are my
goals, well soccer wise, eventually I will be looking for a National Championship this time around. But
most important, to give more children the opportunity to excel in and out of the soccer field.
If you are interested send me and e-mail and tell me what your goals are. For players 4-6 it is important
to be ready to come out and have a lot of fun while learning soccer. Players 7-12 you will need desire
and determination to train and improve. If you just want to kick a soccer ball, please do not apply. This
is not for casual players or parents, AYSO is an excellent organization for recreational soccer. I'm looking
for CHAMPIONS in and off the field. That means that if you are not a good student then also, please do
not apply. See you on the field. Be ready, as in life, to work hard and try to do your best, and learn from
your accomplishments and your mistakes.
